Check Parts After Placement Directly Inside the Placement Machine! Introducing the MPI Function

The MPI function is recommended for the following users

- Users who want to inspect placements on the panel before placing shield cases or expensive parts
- Users who want to check the placement of specific parts

The following introduces the mark and parts inspection (MPI) function.

How is MPI used?

It is possible to check for missing and deviated parts on the panel by using the mark camera in the pick and place machine being used in production.

MPI features

1. Check placements immediately after placing parts
2. Check for defects before placement of certain parts to reduce waste
3. Easily create and manage data for check operations

1. Check placements immediately after placing parts

Defective panels can be stopped from proceeding down the production line by checking specific parts or locations for which placement deviations easily occur.
Traceability can be enhanced because images and results are saved after checks are performed.
Even if there are parts with low recognition accuracy when checking for missing parts, the recognition accuracy can be improved by increasing the volume of learning data.

2. Check for defects before placement of certain parts to reduce waste

After a shield case has been placed on a panel, it is no longer possible to easily check the quality of the placements under that case. MPI makes it possible to check placements before the shield case is placed down. Also, by checking the panel for defective placements before placing down an expensive part, placement of that expensive part can be stopped if there is something wrong with other parts on the panel. This helps to keep wasted materials to a minimum.

3. Easily create and manage data for check operations

Data for check operations (inspection data) can be created easily from the data used for placement operations.
In addition, since data for placement operations and data for check operations are managed within the same production program, changes to placement positions are changed at the same time for both sets of data.
